TLabs’ Startup Lounge Bangalore | Dec 14, 2014

Weekend Ventures launched it’s new series of events – Startup Lounge on Dec. 14, 2014 at Bangalore. Startup Lounge is an event focused on interviews of early stage startups by a prominent accelerator in the country.

For the first event, Weekend Ventures partnered with TLabs – one of the oldest & most sought accelerator in India. The event was sponsored by 10.000Startups – India’s leading program for early stage tech startups. The Startup Lounge was kicked off at 2pm at ThoughtWorks Inc. Bangalore facility. Over 103 attendees were present for the lounge.

With instructions & opening remarks by organisers, TLabs took over the stage to address attendees about their accelerator program. Mr. Abhishek Gupta & Mr. Abhimanyu Bisht represented Tlabs. They announced the news of ‘Launching it’s Bangalore centre in early 2015’. With 15 mins of interaction and short Q&A, TLabs concluded the introduction session.

At 2.30pm, over 41 attending startups lined up for the 60 seconds pitch round. Each startup pitched to TLabs for strictly 60 seconds. The pitch session was remarkable as it wintenessed ideas from education sector to artificial intelligence.

Post pitch session, TLabs shortlisted only 6 teams for on stage interview round. Startups that got selected are as follows: Adatrix, e-Pathshala, Study Alley, MakeUber, Foster Gem, Rime.

During the interview round each of the 6 startups spent not more than 10mins with TLabs.TLabs touch based very few but most important aspects of each startup, which included – not just the immediate problems, but bigger vision, product roadmap, what customers want & what to build first etc.

Post interviews, TLabs summarised about all the interviews & startups. They answered many questions from attendees regarding how TLabs adds values apart from seed investment, how mentors help each startup find ways & discover the larger picture and so on. The open discussion with TLabs executives wrapped up at 5.30pm. The event was officially ended at 6pm with a short networking break when each startup got opportunity to interact with TLabs.

Even though it was the first edition of Startup Lounge, we saw overwhelming response. The interviews was a great mode of learning for all the attendees as well as startups.
